My Review of Court of Death

There were sooo many things to love about this book. Why did I read it? Because in Court of Nightmares, the god of death fascinated me- so I had to get my hands on his stand-alone. The author also has an amazing talent when it comes to world-building and character growth. The FMC (Avea) was a badass, who had no problem putting the god of death in his place. Throughout the story her secrets slowly become unlocked and the puzzle pieces start to move together. The MMC (Mors), was intrigued by her but still demanded respect, in the hottest ways ever 🥵 . He agreed to make a deal with the FMC, which kept her around so he could learn about the woman that fascinated him. Side note: I’m also a sucker for mythical creatures, and loved the ones that made an appearance in this book! If you’re looking for a dark-fantasy romance, filled with secrets and unknowns, a protective MMC AND FMC, I 100% recommend this book.

"I might be a nobody, but there is one thing you should know about me, almighty gods." "Not to fuck with me or what is mine."

Reign of Hell House

Blurb:

Welcome back to Kildale Academy...

Salem

The fate of the world rests on my shoulders...

I'm a witch, dating a group of guys who are possessed by the Seven Deadly Sins, and I've just been pulled through the veil that separates the mortal world from the Underworld.

Prophecies are foretold, fates are changed, and secrets are revealed as we fight to save the world for impending doom.

Things I never thought possible, greet us at every turn. I just hope we make it out alive.

Skye

What is happening to me?

Everything I've ever known to be true has been completely turned on its head. I'm grappling with my newfound powers and the knowledge of where it comes from.

I don't know what to trust anymore. I need answers to who I really am, and what role I have to play in all this turmoil.

My Review

I went in reading Reign of Hell House with mixed feelings. I didn’t want to see this series come to an end; however, I had to know what happened!

This book was the PERFECT ending to the series. This is yet another book I just couldn’t put down, as there were so many twists and turns. Salem and Skye will forever be two of my favorite FMCs. and those men... well they will also be the reason you’ll find me re-reading this series over and over.

Dakota, you amaze me!

In Reign of Hell House, we are thrown back into a world that Skye and Salem are trying to navigate. They are learning more about their past, their family, and their powers. All while finding themselves head over heels for the men who stand by their sides.

The men, I fall more in love with them throughout each book. Not only does their bond with Salem and Skye grow stronger, but their relationship with each other seems to do the same. They become one force that will go to battle for the women they love and nothing will stop them.

I also can’t forget to mention Satan. I mean, who wouldn’t love the hellhound that caused Salem to dub herself "mommy" all while he tried to rip the men to pieces?

“Fucking take what’s yours, baby.”

Conclusion: Should You Read This?

Absolutely! Do not let anything stop you and RUN to go buy this book and series!

Harbored In Silence by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:

A witch on the run who could save the world–or destroy it with one touch

I am who they fear.

The Harvester Death Witch.

The one who holds the power of their fate in my hands.

Or at least…that’s what they whisper.

The coven has fallen. The vampires are circling our den. And if we don’t find new allies, our Pack won’t be able to fight much longer.

On my Alpha’s orders, I must find others who hide beneath the shadows for not only our protection, but theirs as well.

Only I’m not alone on my mission.

I brought Cruz back from death once before, and though I know the goddess forbids it, I’d do it again.

Because he’s my mate.

And my ending.

My Book Review - Harbored In Silence by Carrie Ann Ryan

Cruz and Dara’s story is everything I hoped for! My favorite book of the series so far! The secrets, betrayals, and of course the steam- another book I just couldn’t put down.

I NEEDED to know the consequences of Dara’s actions when she brought Cruz back from death. They are now linked, but not by the typical mating process. Cruz believes Dara could be his mate, but this link feels different.

With everything going on with the vampires, Dara requests to recruit more witches to assist with their cause to save the pack. Upon approval, she sets off on her road trip and Cruz is required to go along to offer her protection. You can feel the inner turmoil with Cruz.- his wolf wants her, but he knows something is off and can't wrap his head around it.

I love Dara. I knew she would play a huge role within the Aspen Pack. Her connection with Cruz builds throughout the story and when everything comes together, it’s perfection. I can not wait for the next book!

“   Cruz. Just fuck me already. I need you.   ”

Book Review -  The Reaper Awakened by CJ Raine

I truly hit the lottery in May when it comes to great Reverse Harems / Why Choose reads with Vampires!

Welcome to a mafia meets paranormal world. Carina (FMC) has kept her identity hidden in a world where no one believed a woman could lead. But Carina was a baddie who didn’t mind staying in the shadows as she knew she was more powerful than them all. Yes, I swooned over Carina just a bit. I mean, not only was she a boss babe, but she was also a domme AND a hybrid vampire. She had everyone falling to their knees for her.

The book itself drew me into its equal parts plot and spice. Everything comes at you fast in this book but it does not take away from the spice/plot. Cliffhangers always get me, but the ending for this book was a great lead into the next one (which I absolutely can not wait for).

“  You are very skilled with your mouth, Nico. I'm curious as to what your cock can do. Take it out.  ”

Conclusion - Should You Read This?

I could not put this book down! It was a short read that had spice, a great plot, a badass FMC, and some sexy men. Plus it takes place in New York!

HIGHLY Recommend!

My Book Review of -  Court of Nightmares by K.A. Knight

K. A. Knight always kills it with her novels, and this book is no different. When I saw she was releasing a new book, I knew I had to read it. Without hesitation, not even knowing what the book was about, it was downloaded to my e-reader.

Althea, her story starts off heartbreaking. She was rejected and felt the pain of that rejection down to her soul. Every. Single. Day. She spiraled out of control and was judged for her reaction to the situation. Althea welcomed her judgment with open arms, knowing she needed saving, even if that meant death. Little did she know, this would forever change her world.

The men, there are 7! I already find it hard to wrap my head around RH relationships with 3-4 men but 7??? How were they all going to get attention, how could one person fit in with 7 men, and the thoughts went on…. Well, again, Knight knows exactly what she is doing and without a doubt in mind, I knew I wanted a RH of 7 Vampire Men. Sigh.

All of the Main Characters have their own, unique backstories and what brought them to be a part of the Court of Nightmares. Right from the beginning I was drawn to three men in particular. Conall, Lycus, and Reve. Give me all the crazy, alpha, unhinged men! Althea was a badass and even though there were a lot of "touch her and...(un-alive)" vibes coming from the men, the "touch them and...(un-alive)" vibes from her were 🔥🔥🔥.

My Call-Out Moments-

Not going to lie, my anxiety was acting up when Simon came into the picture...I had to know how this was going to play out! Being a part of the Court of Nightmares meant your past needed to stay in the past.

The god of death - This is when I really saw how power Althea was. Everyone feared the god of death, and even though she did too, she stood her ground.

“    I love this girl. Let's keep her.    ”

Conclusion: Should You Read This?

Court of Nightmares, has become one of my favorite books! This story combined all of my favorite genres and tropes. The spice was out of this world, but so was the plot. I’m also a sucker for fantasy creatures, so when they were introduced…I fell even more in love with this book. This is definitely a must-read for anyone who loves Dark, Fantasy, Why-Choose/RH Romances.

Blurb

Sometimes, the worst monster is the one that stares back at you in the mirror.

I was used as a pawn in a sinister war.

The secrets of my past haunt me, and the truth of who I really am comes as a shock to us all.

The only way to right my wrongs is to make sure it never happens again.

I must put a stop to the bloodshed and align with the very monsters whose lives I’ve threatened.

My Thoughts

Well, this has been a ride. From book one to now, my emotions have been all over the place butttt I couldn't have asked for a better ending to the series. Wren continued to show her badass nature while claiming her men.  Honorable mention to Bo….because as much as he was frustrating, he also kept the suspense high. Of course, he was my favorite and he added to the fact, I just couldn't put this book down.

If you love why choose - fantasy romances, this book (well the whole series) is a must-read!

Blurb

I’ve been in love with Ivy Sinclair since as long as I can remember. But she’s only ever seen me as her best friends little brother.

When she came out as an Alpha, she took off to Calling Wood to start her new life and found her pack, leaving me behind to pine after her.

When I came out as an Omega, my heart broke because the only Alpha I could ever want, was unavailable.

I’m 21 now and it’s time for me to go to Calling Wood and I plan on avoiding her as much as possible for my own sanity.

To make matters worse, I catch a whiff of Ivy’s scent.

Unable to cope with all the pain my heart and soul feel, dark thoughts cross my mind, things I never thought I’d think about doing.

Just as I think of ending it all, a little blonde pixie of an Omega takes my hand and brings me home. Opening my life up to a whole new world of possibilities.

Will I get everything I ever hoped for? Or is it all just to good to be true?

My Thoughts

Hands down one of my favorite Harems. The topics that arise in this book are strong, but make the characters so relatable. Spencer's life was crushed when he found out what he truly was. He spiraled into a dark place and didn't think he could ever come out of it. Insert my girl - my favorite character - Everlee. She saved him and wanted to show him how enjoyable life could be.

Words can't describe how amazing the dynamics between the characters were. The way they were together as well as how they were when "paired" up was Mwah (Chef's Kiss). I can not recommend this book enough!

Anything for the Devil by Aurora Graves

Blurb

Second chances come at a price...
One night, one mistake made my entire world crash and burn.
My band, my family’s rock music festival, my high school sweetheart — I left it all behind because of the Ramos twins.
Now, New Year’s Ball isn’t the only thing that has called me back to San Antonio. Timeless is falling apart, and all I can think about is righting my wrongs…
But every move I make is the wrong one.
Adrian has me in a chokehold, eager to pick up where we left off and pushing me back toward the band. Sacrifices are being made at Devil's Bridge and watched over by an owl who could be the man-eating owl-witch of local legend, la lechuza — and Zak keeps flirting with danger, hanging out at the bridge while drunk because of me.
The devil is in San Antonio, and he’s coming for Timeless. We were told these were just folktales, but they’re coming to life — and they’re coming for ours.

My Thoughts

Where to begin? This was not what I was expecting, but yessss - Aurora Graves killed it!

I was ready for a rockstar romance, but was hit with so much more! Folklore, love triangles, and spice - such a great read! The men are hot and the FMC Stephanie, knows this return home won't be a walk in the park. What she didn't expect was how much everyone has changed, in more ways than one.

If you love fast-paced books with all the best tropes - this book is definitely for you. Oh and don't forget the crazy cliffhanger... I'm dying here!

I 100% recommend it!

About the Author:

While I grew up dreaming of being a writer — I remember having a “how to write horror stories” book when I was nine — I didn’t get serious about writing until I was a freshman in high school. I realized I wasn’t going to be the rock star vocalist I’d hoped to be (kind of have to be decent at singing to do that), so instead of being a good musician and practicing my drums or guitar, I turned to writing about rock stars.

I’m a horror writer at my core, but I love a good romance! Now, you can find me writing at the intersection of romance and horror: rock star romance, paranormal romance, Southern Gothic, folk horror, even straight-up horror romance. I love featuring local legends and folklore, atmospheric Southern settings, tattooed leading characters, and intense spicy scenes in my stories.

When not writing, I’m still probably writing on a different device. But when I’m really not writing, you can find me reading smut or about religion and spirituality, watching horror movies, and listening to the same song on repeat for months because I’m neurodivergent (my current record is eight months, if you’re wondering).
